Classic tones with a modern twist. This a new style of humbucker for Seymour Duncan in that it uses unbalanced coils. The bottom adjustable coil comes from the SH-1b '59 bridge model. The top coil is from the SH-5 Duncan Custom. Both coils feature different wire guages but are united by a single Alnico V magnet. At just under 12K DC, the new SH-16 fills a gap many have noticed in Seymour Duncan's product line for quite some time. It is what Seymour dubs the "80's hard rock /classic metal". For those players who find the JB, Custom Custom, Custom 5, and Duncan Custom to be too hot, and the Screamin Demon and 59 to be without enough output, the SH-16 is the perfect pickup! Think 5150 era Van Halen, Whitesnake, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Motley Crue, Accept, et al. There is a huge difference between a Metallica low E chug-chug and a Van Halen low E chug-chug! The unbalanced coils also had a grit and growl to the midrange that is perfectly suited for hard rock and classic metal tone.
